MICROMO is proud to launch the brand new FAULHABER 1660 BHx series, a high power, slottless brushless DC motor based on 2-pole technology that's setting new standards for performance, speed, and power. At 16mm in diameter and 60mm in length, the 1660 BHx series brushless DC motor weighs 78g and delivers impressive high speed and torque, and is available in two motor design options. The 1660 BHx series delivers high speed and power values with low vibration and heat generation, something inconceivable until recently. This brushless motor series is thereby predestined for handpieces with high power requirements in applications with limited integration space.

Through their robust, compact design and outstanding performance data, the 1660 BHx motors are well suited for demanding applications like surgical and dental handpieces, medical robotics and electrical grippers, as well as laboratory equipment, professional handheld instruments, or robotics systems. With their long form factor, low-vibration, and quiet operation, the 1660 BHx series is ideal for quiet handheld tools, which when used for long periods of time reduces user fatigue. The low rotor inertia enables fine motor control by drive electronics and makes operation very smooth.

Optimized Motor Design Options

In order to fit at best the large variety of different application needs, the BHx series comes with two different motor designs, the BHS and the BHT, both with a 16mm diameter and 60mm in length, designed for high speed and high torque, respectively.  Each motor design option is optimized to perform based on application requirements.

All FAULHABER BHx series motors can be combined with high resolution magnetic encoders, planetary gearheads and drive electronics and controllers from the FAULHABER product range.

1660 BHS Series [High Speed design]

The 1660 BHS series offers high speeds up to 100,000 rpm and delivers exceptional power of 96 W to meet the most demanding applications. The 1660 BHS option is ideal for devices or applications running for long periods of time while needing to preserve a low housing temperature, such as handheld tools and instruments.

1660 BHT Series [High Torque design]

The 1660 BHT series is optimized for torque instead of speed, providing a continuous output torque close to 19 mNm with the ability to manage variable loads. The flat speed-torque curve of the 1660 BHT is as low as 95 rpm/mNm, and helps minimize speed fluctuation to ensure constant speed and smooth performance. For specific applications the motor can generate impulsive torque above 30 mNm, traditionally such high performance levels were only achieved by much larger motor sizes. Those attributes make the 1660 BHT series the perfect solution for recurring intermittent use with high dynamics and precise positioning.
