DC Gearmotors
MICROMO offers three types of DC gearmotors. A flat coreless DC motor with a plastic, spur gearhead, a flat brushless DC motor with a plastic, spur gearhead, and a sensorless brushless DC motor with Ø3mm and Ø5mm diameters with a plastic, planetary gearhead. All three types of gearmotors differ from conventional, iron rotor DC motors in their coreless winding construction.
MICROMO offers the following DC Gearmotors:
Flat Coreless DC Gearmotors
In DC micromotors with flat rotor technology, the ironless rotor with its three flat, oval coils provides the basis for leading-edge performance in applications with minimal space. The flat rotor rotates in an axially directed magnetic field with a minimum moment of inertia – without cogging or iron losses. The precious metal commutation is designed to allow deployment at ultra-low starting voltages, which is made possible by the reduced brush contact resistance. Therefore, flat, coreless DC gearmotors are particularly suitable for battery operated portable devices.
The precise construction of the spur gearhead used with this flat, coreless DC motor causes very low current consumption in the motor, giving greater efficiency. The gearhead is sleeve mounted on the motor, providing a seamless in-line fit. MicroMo’s spur gearheads are ideal for high precision, low torque and noise applications.
Flat, Brushless DC Gearmotors
The extremely flat design of the brushless DC motor is made possible by its self supporting coil. Instead of being mechanically wound, it is fabricated by means of photolithographic processes. The premium quality nedodymium magnets (NdFeB) are designed for high driving power. As a result, flat, brushless DC motors are able to deliver considerable torque in ultra-flat dimensions.
The brushless configuration provides a solid basis for high-durability operations, thus making the flat brushless DC motors the perfect drive solution for a multitude of innovative products.

Ø3mm and Ø5mm Sensorless Brushless DC Gearmotors
This new version of the brushless DC motor uses the “System FAULHABER” skewed winding in combination with a rotor made of Neodymium rare-earth magnets to provide cog-free motion. The bearing system is now composed of jewel bearings. Due to their electronic commutation, the service life of these motors is only limited by the bearings.
